The Atrium at the Yale School of Management
165 Whitney Ave, New Haven, CT 06511
The complete Traces: Witness & Trespass series comprises thirteen photographs. For the installation at the Yale School of Managment, we have elected to present eight of the thirteen, shown in two modular cycles of four images each. This structure reflects both the spatial character of the atrium and a curatorial intent to preserve clarity and resonance. Rather than exhibiting all thirteen works simultaneously, we offer focused excerpts and intentional reframings that allow each image room to breathe and to be met with care.
For visitors standing in Evans Hall, the installation is calibrated to the light and rhythm of the space and invites slow looking. This online companion offers background and context for the images on view, while inviting personal interpretation and reflection.
For online visitors encountering Traces beyond the gallery, these cycles function as openings into the larger body of work. What you see here is a deliberate excerpt, not a diminishment. Each photograph holds traces of Indigenous presence, environmental intelligence, and cultural continuity, while inviting reflection on memory, absence, and how histories persist in the land.
For those who wish to deepen this encounter, the Exhibition Guide offers another experience with the images - alongside the places, stories, and research that inform them.
Across both settings, Traces asks for attention, presence, and reciprocity. The installation is complete only in dialogue with its viewers: in the time you take, the associations that surface, and the meanings you make.
